Second Career Home InspectorThese Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to inspectioncareer.com, the Home Inspector Study Guide and anything else we offer on this site. "We", "us" and "our" mean Second Career Home Inspector. "You" means anyone who visits the site or buys or uses the study guide. By using the site or the study guide, you agree to these Terms.
1. What the study guide is, and what it is not
The Home Inspector Study Guide is informational study material about the systems and components of a home, inspection standards, report writing and each state's general starting steps.
- It is not state-approved pre-licensing education, and it does not count toward any education hours your state requires.
- It is not legal, financial, safety or professional advice.
- We do not promise that you will pass any exam, earn a license or certification, find work or earn any amount of money.
- We are not affiliated with or endorsed by ASHI, InterNACHI, the Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors, any exam provider or any state licensing board. Practice questions are original and are not taken from any real exam.
2. State information may be out of date
The state guides summarize public sources as of the date shown on each page. Licensing rules, hours, fees and insurance requirements change, and sources sometimes disagree. Always confirm requirements with your state's licensing board before you enroll, pay for anything or apply. You are responsible for meeting your state's requirements.
3. Buying the study guide
Purchases are processed by our reseller, Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy handles payment, sales tax, receipts and refunds, and its own buyer terms also apply to your purchase. Prices are shown in US dollars and may change at any time, but a change never affects an order you have already placed.
4. Your license to use the study guide
When you buy the study guide, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it for your own study. You may:
- use the online version at inspectioncareer.com/study on up to the number of devices your license key allows (currently 3), and
- keep the download copy on your own computers.
You may not share your license key or the download, resell, copy, publish, upload or distribute the study guide or its questions, or use it to build a competing product. You are responsible for keeping your license key private. We may deactivate a license key that is shared publicly, used in a way that breaks these Terms, refunded or charged back.
5. Access to the online version
We intend to keep the online version available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. It may be unavailable at times for maintenance or because of problems outside our control. If we ever stop offering the online version, we will give buyers at least 30 days' notice by email, and the download copy will keep working.
6. Safety
Home inspection work can involve ladders, roofs, attics, crawlspaces, electrical equipment and hazardous materials. The study guide describes general safety practices, but you are responsible for your own safety, training and equipment, and for following the law and the rules of any job site or employer.
7. Our content
The site, the study guide, the blog, the practice questions, our logo and our other materials belong to Second Career Home Inspector and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may share links to our pages. Do not copy our content without written permission.
8. Disclaimer
To the fullest extent the law allows, the site and the study guide are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
9. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Second Career Home Inspector will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost income or lost opportunities, arising from your use of the site or the study guide. Our total liability for any claim related to the site or the study guide is limited to the amount you paid for the study guide. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Washington, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Changes apply from that date and do not affect purchases made before it.
